Happy Mother's Day

As this year’s Mother's Day approaches, each of us will have different emotions arise within us. Some of us may be delighted to buy our Mother’s some great gifts this year - toilet paper, disinfectant, masks, gloves, and bleach (if you haven’t bought your Mom a gift yet, you’re welcome and good luck!). Some of us may be excited for a holiday and the chance to celebrate whether near or far. Some of us may be sad to be missing out on a Mother’s Day tradition, such as going out for Mother’s Day brunch at a local restaurant. Some of us may be struggling with feeling a lack of self worth and wondering how in the world to be a “Mom” while also completing so many other tasks during this pandemic. Some of us may have the desire to become a Mother and haven't seen it come to pass. And for some of us, there is grief. Grief due to the loss of a Mother in your life. Or possibly you are a grieving Mother who has lost a child. For those of you who are grieving, know that "the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in Spirit" (Psalm 34:18). He also promises to sustain you. Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you.” That word “sustain” means to strengthen or support. We can all trust that God will sustain us in this season. No matter what feelings we have this Mother’s Day, our God will strengthen and support us. He is faithful.

In hopes that it brings you joy, we decided to ask a few of our SCS students what they love most about their Mothers. Here is what they said:

She still loves me even if I’m not behaving.

She is very kind.

She cares for me.

She’s nice to me and gives me stuff like food and water.

She loves me and gives me stuff other kids don’t have.

She takes care of me and makes me food.

She cleans the house.

She kisses and hugs me.

She takes care of me and my sisters.

Sunnyvale Christian School wishes you a Happy Mother’s Day!

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
